Medion MD 82767 Portable DVD Player#

Features#

The device can play videos from DVD, USB or Memory cards. My DVD player seams not to work anymore, so how to play from USB stick?

I record TV broadcasts with DVBViewer TE2 via TechniSat SkyStar 2 eXpress HD as TS Streams. So I would like to use those records to show on the device. (This will keep the children happy during long car trips).

Note: Check the below mentioned tools under Video

  1. Project X
    • Erase advertisments in file with Project-X and convert to MPEG
    • The files must have .mpg as extension, otherwise the file viewer will not show it
    • Split file in ~750 MB blocks, because the device cannot move fast forward or rewind with bigger files

Note: ProjectX cannot deal with MPEG-4/H.264, so you need to convert it to MPEG2 first:

  • Use MediaCoder
    • Video > AutoBitrate = X
    • Video > Bitrate Ratio = 100%
    • Video > Rate Mode = Average Bitrate
    • Video > Format = MPEG2
    • Audio > Format MP2 (must be MP2!, MP3 will not work)
    • Container > Container = MPEG2
    • Picture > Resize = 720x576
  • After that you have an mpg file which you can split und edit with ProjectX again
  1. MediaCoder
    • reduce the bitrate to average 4000 kbps (peak ~5300 kbps), because the video will not be in synch with audio with high bitrates

I used a new 32 GB Kingston DT Ultimate G2 USB-3 stick and it worked finally fine.
It must be formatted in FAT16 or FAT32.
Filename must not exceed the length of 14 characters (without extension). Otherwise sorting will not be properly done. You need to use the remote control, there is no other way to switch the source (Button "DVD/CARD/USB")
